In 2013 and 2014, standardized electrofishing was conducted above and below Lock and Dam 19 (i.e., in Pools 19 and 20 respectively) of the Upper Mississippi River (UMR). Sampling was consistent with the UMR Restoration program’s Long Term Resource Monitoring element (LTRM) and The Illinois Natural History Survey’s Long Term Electrofishing program (LTEF) allowing for standardized comparisons among the reaches we sampled and those sampled by the LTRM (Pools 4, 8, 13, and 26) and LTEF (Pools 16-21, and Pool 25). Data in this file is includes A) new data from Pools 19 and 20 and B) data compiled from public sources for other pools (LTRM and LTEF). Generally, data codes are intended to match formatting conventions from...

Dataset contains sampling information (site, location, and date of sampling) for largemouth bass and silver carp captured in La Grange Pool of the Illinois River during 2015 used to determine the population size structure of both species for analyzing size-specific feeding of largemouth bass on young-of-year and Age-1 silver carp. The dataset also contains information on fish prey items found in largemouth bass stomachs for diet analysis.

This dataset includes information derived from a Vemco telemetry array located at Lock and Dam 15 on the Mississippi River near Rock Island, IL and a longitudinal telemetry array that ranges from Pool 14 to Pool 19. Silver carp, bighead carp, and paddlefish were detected with this system. Lock Queue Reports, which detail the daily lock operation for river traffic, were obtained from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Temperature data were recorded on the Vemco receivers and stage height data were obtained from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) are an invasive species in the Mississippi River Basin; understanding their vulnerability to predation as juveniles may inform control by native predators and predator stocking. Digestion of silver carp recovered from diets makes it difficult to determine the size classes most vulnerable to predation by native fishes. The objective of this study was to determine if total length of silver carp can be predicted from the size of their chewing pad, pharyngeal teeth, and pharyngeal arch, the structures most often found intact in diets. Juvenile silver carp (n=136: <180 mm) were collected using 60 hz pulsed- DC electrofishing and mini fyke nets in 2014 and 2015 from the La Grange...

This is collection of multiple datasets for bighead and silver carp from the the Illinois, Ohio, and MIssissippi rivers. This data was collected by researchers, monitors, and managers between 1997 and 2018. Jahn Kallis created this dataset by combining these individual datasets.
