The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB), constructed a finite-difference numerical groundwater-flow model of the Washita River aquifer by using MODFLOW-2005 (Harbaugh, 2005) with the Newton formulation solver (MODFLOW-NWT). The 1973 Oklahoma Groundwater Law requires that the OWRB conduct hydrologic investigations of the State’s aquifers to determine the maximum annual yield (MAY) for each groundwater basin. This metadata record describes a series of tabular datasets containing metrics used to characterize periods of anomalously low storage for select large reservoirs across the Conterminous United States for the climate years (April 1 – March 31) from 1981 to 2020. These data support the associated Simeone and others (2024) publication. The reservoirs in this dataset are those included in the ResOpsUS dataset, with sufficient data during the period of interest. This dataset includes lignin phenol monomer concentrations normalized to 100 mg of organic carbon. These analyses were conducted on select intervals from peat cores collected at the Alligator River (AR) and Great Dismal Swamp (GDS) National Wildlife Refuges in North Carolina and Virginia/North Carolina, USA, respectively. Water from the San Lorenzo River in Santa Cruz, California, was sampled to analyze for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and suspended sediment concentrations (SSC) during the rainy seasons from 2008 to 2019 following drought conditions. The samples were collected using a US D-95 depth-integrated water sampler deployed from a bridge-box platform beneath a pedestrian bridge For each suspended-sediment sample, the water was collected in a 1-liter Nalgene bottle attached to the sampling device. This data release describes one (1) Microsoft Excel table of lumped parameter models of groundwater age for groundwater discharging to the South Loup River, Nebraska. The table (LPMAgeResults) includes final models of groundwater age and metrics by calibration of lumped parameter models to tracer concentrations using TracerLPM software (Jurgens and others, 2012). Interpreted results presented here were used to guide hydrologic interpretations of groundwater sources and flow paths of groundwater discharging to the South Loup River, NE.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are reported for water samples collected from the San Lorenzo River water during the rainy seasons from 2015 to 2016. Samples were collected during 2-, 5- and close to 10 year flood events.
Supplementary data for studies conducted in the Luquillo Experimental Forest (LEF), eastern Puerto Rico include measurements of temperature, relative humidity and cloud immersion at 30-minute resolution. Temperature and relative humidity were measured at five sites; two primary sites have records from March 2014 to June 2019; other sites have shorter records within that period. Three .csv files contain occurrence points (longitude and latitude) for three woody vegetation communities found in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. Points were extracted from publicly available LANDFIRE Environmental Site Potential 30 m raster downgraded to 1 km using a majority classification algorithm. Measures used to assess trends in the 10th, 50th, and 90th quantiles of annual peak streamflow from 1916-2015 at 2,683 U.S. Geological Survey stations and within 191 4-digit HUCs in the conterminous United States. Linear quantile regression was applied to the selected quantiles of log-transformed annual peak streamflow to represent trends for a range of flood frequencies from small, common floods to large, infrequent floods. Comparative trends in pairs of quantiles were characterized as coherent, convergent, or divergent by comparing the slopes of linear quantile regression equations.
We apply a research approach that can inform riparian restoration planning by developing products that show recent trends in vegetation conditions identifying areas potentially more at risk for degradation and the associated relationship between riparian vegetation dynamics and climate conditions. These data were compiled for research pertaining to the effects of stand density on growth rates in semi-arid forests. Increasing heat and aridity in coming decades is expected to negatively impact tree growth and threaten forest sustainability in dry areas. Maintaining low stand density has the potential to mitigate the negative effects of increasingly severe droughts by minimizing competitive intensity. By inspecting growth rates and the climate and soil moisture conditions that drive these growth rates we can understand better the positive effects of reducing stand density and the specific dynamics that are beneficial to growth.
Data presented are results of surveys and monitoring for San Diego Cactus Wren (Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus) in southern San Diego County. These data were collected to assess Cactus Wren population status to determine the relationships between specific elements of habitat quality and Cactus Wren presence. Surveys were conducted periodically at 507 plots throughout San Diego County. Birds that had been banded in prior years with unique color combinations were identified to individual on subsequent visits to provide data on survival and movement between years.
