This story map depicts the initial point of the Gila and Salt River meridian in Arizona. There are two georeferenced plats along with a description of the significance. The Gila and Salt River initial point was set in 1851 by John R. Bartlett, originally to mark the boundary of the United States and Mexico under the treaty with Mexico of Guadalupe Hidalgo at the junction of the Gila and Salt Rivers. It was re-monumented in 1984 and again in 2006.

As part of the ongoing effort to engage the public in the General Land Office and the BLM, and to increase interest in historic land records, the GLO Record of the Week Story Map Project (ROWSMP) was created. What was once just infrequent emails with interesting records and stories to BLM employees, the ROWSMP wants to further engagement by improving the regularity of publication and increasing the amount of information presented with an emphasis on interactivity while also broadening the audience to the public. This story map is a special edition of the regular GLO ROTW Story Map. This webapp focuses on Halloween and presents GLO records that fit within the theme.
Sage-grouse habitat areas divided into proposed management categories within Nevada and California project study boundaries. HABITAT CATEGORY DETERMINATION The process for category determination was directed by the Nevada Sagebrush Ecosystem Technical team. Sage-grouse habitat was determined from a statewide resource selection function model and first categorized into 4 classes: high, moderate, low, and non-habitat. The standard deviations (SD) from a normal distribution of RSF values created from a set of validation points (10% of the entire telemetry dataset) were used to categorize habitat ‘quality’ classes. 1) High quality habitat comprised pixels with RSF values < 0.5 SD. 2) Moderate > 0.5 and < 1.0 SD. 3)...
