In cooperation with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) utilized various field and laboratory methods to determine the presence and concentration of cyanobacteria, cyanotoxins, and taste-and-odor compounds in Texas water bodies. This data release documents the results from water-quality samples collected from 41 water bodies in Texas during 2016–19. Both qualitative and quantitative field and laboratory methods were performed. Analyses included phytoplankton taxonomy, measurements of phytoplankton biomass, and concentrations of cyanotoxins, taste-and-odor compounds, and photosynthetic pigments. This data release contains waterborne gradient self-potential (SP), surface-water temperature, surface-water conductivity and specific conductance, and surface-water nitrate concentration data measured continuously in the upper part of the Delaware River along approximately 123 kilometers (km) between Hancock and Port Jervis, New York. All of the data were measured from a kayak between June 27 and July 2, 2021. Gradient self-potential data were measured along five survey segments that varied in length between 13.1 and 31.6 km. A previously published MODFLOW-NWT groundwater-flow model for the Rush Springs aquifer in western Oklahoma (using 1 steady state stress period followed by 444 monthly stress periods representing 1979-2015; Ellis, 2018a) was used as the basis of several groundwater-use scenarios. The model is a 3-layer model including the Cloud Chief formation (confining unit of the Rush Springs aquifer), alluvial and terrace deposits, and the Rush Springs aquifer. The scenarios were used to assess the effects of increasing groundwater withdrawals from the Rush Springs aquifer on base flows to streams that flow into Fort Cobb Reservoir to address concerns over groundwater use reducing inflows to the lake. The U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Grand River Dam Authority completed a high-resolution multibeam bathymetric survey to compute a new capacity and surface-area table. The capacity and surface-area tables describe the relation between the elevation of the water surface and the volume of water that can be impounded at each given water-surface elevation. The capacity and surface area of Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees were computed from a Triangular Irregular Network (TIN) surface created in Global Mapper Version 21.0.1. Using the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Air Stagnation Index (ASI), the total number of days during 2007–2016 with atmospheric conditions conducive for stagnant air conditions in the conterminous U.S. are documented in raster format geospatial data. These data provide the number of days that would allow the temporal buildup of atmospheric pollution (NOAA, 2017). NOAA provides ASI data on a monthly basis based on a modified version of Wang and Angell’s (1999) algorithm. In May 2021, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, logged 9 previously drilled boreholes in the bedrock beneath Bull Shoals Dam with acoustic and optical televiewer geophysical methods. The acoustic and optical televiewer logging results were used to identify fractures and small bedding planes in the bedrock beneath the dam using the image and structure interpretation module of Well CAD (v.5.4). This data release consists of each geophysical log in standard log American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) text (.las) format and a comma separated (.csv) file detailing the fracture and bedding plane analysis completed on each geophysical log.

The hydrogeology of the Cannon Air Force Base (AFB) in Curry County, is being investigated to better understand the mechanics of groundwater flow in the area, including the identification of preferential groundwater flow paths. These vector geospatial data represent the geographic extent of the contributing zones for the Northern, Barton Springs, and San Antonio segments of the Edwards aquifer.
