Fort Hays State University, Kansas massasauga data for the Great Plains Landscape Conservation Cooperative (GPLCC) Landscape Conservation Design (LCD) pilot area.
We flew aerial line transect surveys between March 30 and May 3, 2012, to estimate the abundance of lesser prairie-chickens (Tympanuchus pallidicinctus) and lesser prairie-chicken leks in four habitat regions in the Great Plains U.S. Estimates were supplemented with data from surveys conducted by Texas Tech University in two regions in the Texas Panhandle and surveys conducted by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation in Oklahoma. We also estimated the number of mixed species leks which contained both lesser and greater prairie-chickens (Tympanuchus cupido) and the number of hybrid lesser-greater prairie-chickens. The study area for 2012 included four regions containing the 2011 estimated occupied lesser...

Federal resource managers,
The administrative boundary for the Great Plains Landscape Conservation Cooperative was created by combining Bird Conservation Regions (BCR) 18 and 19. These two regions combine the historically mixed and short grass prairie ecosystems traditional referenced as the Great Plains of the United States and have similar biological, ecological, and climatological characteristics and concerns.

This data is the Missouri River Basin subset of the National Anthropogenic Barrier Dataset (NABD) 2012 developed by USGS additional gauge data may exist in this dataset. Please refer to the complete dataset for use in other projects. A copy can be found at:https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/item/56a7f9dce4b0b28f1184dabdThe follow is metadata from the source data:The main objective of this project was to develop a dataset of large, anthropogenic barriers that are spatially linked to the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 1 (NHDPlusV1) for the conterminous U.S. and the high resolution National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) for Alaska (1:63,000 scale) and Hawaii (1:24,000 scale) to facilitate GIS analyses based...

Combines the Playa Lakes Joint Venture's Probable Playas v4 (PLJV, PPv4))with the Rainwater Basin Joint Venture's Nebraska Historic Wetland Mask (RWBJV, HWM). The PPv4 data was used for most of the great plains region including western Nebraska. The HWM was used for the central and eastern portions of Nebraska. Not all attributes were retained from their respective sources in order to combine the files. Please see the source data for information regarding each.

The potential implications of climate change to fishes in Great Plains rivers and streams could range from drastic shifts in distribution to extirpation. Many lotic systems in the Great Plains are not well suited for direct escape routes for fish to move to more suitable habitats at other latitudes due to the west-east direction of flows rather than north-south. Therefore, we might expect additional climate related stress on fish communities in the Great Plains compared to other regions of North America. Therefore, we will 1) simulate potential water temperature and flow changes within the Great Plains based on extant regional climate models, 2) assess stream connectivity to potential refugia, 3) develop a database...
