This volume contains records for water discharge at 109 gaging stations; stage or contents only at 5 gaging stations; water quality at 26 gaging stations; and water levels for 45 observation wells. Also included are data for 32 crest-stage partial-record stations. Additional water data were collected at various sites not involved in the systematic data-collection program and are published as miscellaneous measurements and analyses. Some data collected during 2002 will be published in subsequent reports. These data represent...

This volume of the annual hydrologic data report of Alaska is one of a series of annual reports that document hydrologic data gathered from the U.S. Geological Survey's surface- and ground- water data-collection networks in each state, Puerto Rico, and the Trust Territories. These records of stream flow, ground-water levels, and water quality provide the hydrologic information needed by state, local, and Federal agencies, and the private sector for developing and managing our Nation's land and water resources.

Bathymetric data were collected with a single-beam echosounder in 2022 for 18 selected shallow (0-3 meters) areas to improve a digital elevation model (DEM) for Rainy Lake and Namakan Reservoir created by Environment and Climate Change Canada. Bathymetric data were collected in transects spaced approximately 20 meters apart. In addition to the bathymetric data, the locations and elevations of observed water surface and recovered high-water marks are being provided at select locations because of the high water observed during bathymetric data collection after a spring flood in 2022.

These heatmaps show a top 3 stressor or service, as ranked by participants, and the concentration of participants who reported as working in each municipality or county who also voted for that stressor or service across the landscape. This map shows the percentage of participants from each county and municipality who ranked Availability of Water as a top 3 ecosystem service that could benefit from collaborative conservation in their region. Symbology represents the percentage of participants with 0% = dark green, 0.0001 % - 24.99% = light green, 25% - 49.99% = yellow, 50% - 74.99% = orange, 75% - 100% = red. All counties and municipalities identified by participants as areas where they work were given a tally for...

This Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) GeoPackage (.gpkg) contains water-well point features and associated tables for the state of Minnesota that have been reformatted based on a USGS profile of the OGC GroundWaterML2 (GWML2) standard (https://docs.ogc.org/is/19-013/19-013.html). The water-well records provided in this data set have not received additional processing or interpretation by the USGS beyond the GWML2 standardization. The National Water-Well Database (NWWDB) is a compilation of water-well records from state-managed databases that have been standardized to a common format for consistency across state and administrative boundaries. Water-well completion reports that are submitted to permitting state agencies...

This data release provides water chemistry results and quality assurance data for samples collected from Great Lakes tributaries in the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and New York. In total, 158 chemicals were analyzed which are primarily pharmaceuticals. Between one and four water samples were collected at 37 sampling locations between November 2017 and July 2018 resulting in a total of 87 environmental, 95 field replicate, and 15 field blank samples. Of the 158 chemicals analyzed, 23 chemicals were detected in at least one regular sample. Detections per site ranged from 0 to 12 chemicals at concentrations of 1.56 to 30900 nanograms per liter. Sample collection and analysis was performed...

The headwaters of the John River are located near the village of Anaktuvuk Pass in the central Brooks Range of interior Alaska. With the recent construction of a water-supply system and a wastewater-treatment plant, most homes in Anaktuvuk Pass now have modern water and wastewater systems. The effluent from the treatment plant discharges into a settling pond near a tributary of the John River. The headwaters of the John River are adjacent to Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve, and the John River is a designated Wild River. Due to the concern about possible water-quality effects from the wastewater effluent, the hydrology of the John River near Anaktuvuk Pass was studied from 2002 through 2003. Three...

Tassi Ranch water trough with water from nearby Tassi Spring, 3 miles northeast of river mile 284.5.
Water Resource boundaries were created by reselecting arcs from the 1:100,000 TIGER county coverage. Information came from an ascii file provided by DNRC, "Water Resources Division Regional Offices." For more information, see /gis2/montwork/cmp/94/94nris172d.aml

Problem - The demand for water in New York State is unevenly distributed. Because increasing competition for local supplies could lead to shortages, it is expedient to know how and where water is withdrawn, delivered, and used. There are many dimensions to water-use issues, and all should be considered to develop a full understanding of the use and delivery of water in the State. In order to apply water-use information to problems of water-demand management, many data elements need to be collected and stored in a convenient location and format. The categories of water use most commonly considered include public-water supply, domestic, thermoelectric power generation, industrial, irrigation and, to a lesser degree,...

Ground-water and surface-water (GW/SW) interactions account for most of the dynamic ground-water variation in the Fort Wainwright area. GW/SW interactions control vertical water-table changes, changing flow directions, and reversing vertical flow gradients. Environmental investigations frequently need to address varying rates and directions of contaminant movement related to the relative locations of the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Our investigation efforts are providing U.S. Army Alaska (USARAK), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District (COE), and their contractors insight into these critical processes. Our project data and reports are presented in the below tables and links. Please contact us with any questions....

The Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council and the U.S. Geological Survey developed a water-quality monitoring program to address a shared interest in the water quality of the Yukon River and its relation to climate. This report contains water-quality data from samples collected in the Yukon River Basin during water years 2006 through 2008. A broad range of chemical analyses from 44 stations throughout the YRB are presented. On August 8, 2009 the USGS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council representing the culmination of 5 years of dedicated efforts to forge a working collaboration and partnership with expectations of continuing into the foreseeable future. The...

Analysis of water level elevations and discharges was performed for Pool 25 on the Upper Mississippi River as part of a study to increase ecological benefits of the operation of Lock and Dam 25. This dam was placed in operation in May 1939. Since that time, the operating plan for managing water levels has undergone several changes. Discharges for Pool 25 were estimated using data from the closest gaging stations, with corrections accounting for changes in watershed area. Discharge estimates since 1939 were used to compute exceedence frequencies on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. They were also used to calculate the percentage of time discharges were within specified ranges for the three time scales. Water level...
The article focuses on Alaska's water transportation which Alaska depends on in hauling bulk cargo like oil or coal out of the state and brining in freight ranging from refrigerated containers of lettuce to drill rigs. It provides the history of Alaska's water transportation and the increased commercialization of the Yukon River following the transfer of Alaska from Russia. It indicates that Alaska's mines and oil rely on water transportation to get their materials to market.
