These data are estimates of den emergence date, den site departure dates, and duration at den sites as well as post-emergence observations for female polar bears sampled in the southern Beaufort Sea subpopulation 1985-2016 and the Chukchi Sea subpopulation 2008-2017. The data were used to better understand the importance of time spent at the den site post-emergence. Emergence dates and departure dates were determined using collar temperature sensor data.
This dataset includes measures collected on polar bears captured in the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas, 1981-2017 by the U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Data collected include body length, body mass, axillary girth, skull width and tail lengths. Bears were also aged as described in the methods. For some bears, an adipose tissue sample was collected and percent lipid content was measured, percent body fat was measured via bioelectrical impedance analysis, and/or recent feeding behavior was assessed via gut palpitation or blood urea and creatinine levels, all of which are further described in the methods.
This data set documents the dry mass energy density, distribution, and stomach contents of age-0 chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) captured in the Kuskokwim Bay estuary in May and June 2004. The analysis of this data was published in Burrill et al. 2018 (DOI :10.1007/s00300-018-2297-2.).

This dataset provides information on fish species composition and their diet information for 16 lakes and 16 ponds at two locations on the central Arctic Coastal Plain, Alaska. In one table, we provide the presence of fish species and the total species count for each lake or pond sampled. This table also includes metrics of surface water connectivity to the stream network. This data set contains genetic information collected from eelgrass (Zostera marina) populations along the Pacific coast of North America from Alaska to Baha California. A total of 447 samples were collected comprising 401 unique individuals (genets) and 46 clones (ramets) from which 10 microsatellite DNA loci were obtained.

This data package contains digital images, survey location logs and a summary tabulation from carcass survey conducted at walrus haulouts in Alaska. A summary of image collection times is provided as a tabular file. The images are considered sensitive. They are archived at the U.S. Geological Survey, Alaska Science Center (a USGS Trusted Digital Repository). At this time, only this metadata record describing the data, an image inventory table, and a satellite (GNSS) log are publicly accessible.
These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long-term monitoring program and contain diet data from Black-legged Kittiwakes (BLKI), Rhinoceros Auklets (RHAU), and Tufted puffins (TUPU) located on Middleton Island in Prince William Sound, Gulf of Alaska. These are genetic data collected from replicated samples of 21 Enteroctopus (E. dofleini or a cryptic lineage) in Prince William Sound Alaska to evaluate tissue type, DNA extraction method, and time until analyses are completed on data reliability. Data collected from all samples include two microsatellites identified as possible lineage indicators, and nine microsatellite loci previously identified as polymorphic in both lineages. DNA sequence data from 528 bp of the octopine dehydrogenase (OCDE) gene were also collected.

This set of data files contains analyses of samples representing Triassic units (Shublik and Ivishak Formations and Karen Creek Sandstone) in Alaska. The samples were collected from 20 outcrop localities in northeastern Alaska. The data set includes total organic carbon (TOC) and geochemical data from inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy-mass spectroscopy (ICP-OES-MS) and portable X-ray fluorescence (p-XRF). The data presented here are described and interpreted in a paper titled "Facies Variation within Outcrops of the Triassic Shublik Formation, Northeastern Alaska".
We summarize available information on Pacific walrus haulouts from available reports, interviews with coastal residents and aviators, and personal observations of the authors. We provide this in the form of a georeferenced database that may be queried and displayed with standard geographic information system and database management software. The database contains 150 records of Pacific walrus haulouts, with a summary of basic characteristics on maximum haulout size, age-sex composition, season of use, and decade of most recent use. Citations to reports are provided as a bibliographic database.

These data represent estimates of den entrance and exit dates for female polar bears in the southern Beaufort and Chukchi Seas based on temperature sensor data obtained from satellite collars. An algorithm described in Olson et al. (2017) was used to determine whether the female entered a den and further analyses using temperature data as described in Olson et al. (2017) were used to assess den entry and emergence dates. The algorithm used identified the denning period as that during which collar temperature remained consistently above a temperature threshold. The imagery and annotations presented here were generated while testing an aerial photographic survey design to improve repeatability, transparency, and estimation of variance for annual population estimates of geese staging at Izembek Lagoon, Alaska. This dataset provides an orthorectified aerial photo mosaic derived from airborne fodar data acquired in 2021 on August 31 over the Totatlanika River in central Alaska. The term “fodar” is a portmanteau of foto and lidar, coined by Matt Nolan, which describes a method of quantifying the color and elevation of Earth’s surface via airborne small-format digital camera photography.

These are geospatial data that characterize the distribution of polar bear denning habitat on the National Petroleum Reserve–Alaska (NPR-A), the 1002 Area of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the coastal plain of northern Alaska between the Colville River and the Alaska/Canada border.
These were data collected from polar bears from the southern Beaufort Sea during the spring between 2004 and 2016. Data include individual bear identification, age and sex class, capture date, capture year, open water season lengths, melt season length, and diet composition (expressed as a percentage of prey species). These data were used to determine whether polar bear diets have recently changed or remained stable over time.
These data were part of a pilot tracking study of three adult female caribou from the Fortymile Herd in Alaska. The dataset is comprised of two comma separated values (.csv) files. Data includes: 1) processed (i.e., erroneous locations removed) GPS locations for caribou, received once per hour for 6 months (October 1998 to April 1999), and 2) spatial, temporal, and biological attributes of three female caribou tracked during the study.
This data release is composed of seven datasets regarding colonial seabirds and forage fish at two seabird nesting colonies on Gull and Chisik Islands in lower Cook Inlet, Alaska. These data were collected to detect changes in the breeding population of Black-legged Kittiwakes and Common Murres on two nesting colonies in lower Cook Inlet and to compare those counts to baseline counts from 1995-1999. They are part of an ongoing study in lower Cook Inlet, Alaska to assess the recent status of forage fish and seabirds (2000-2020).
