Ecoregional assessments provide a regional scale, biodiversity-based context forimplementing conservation efforts. The intent of the assessments is to create a sharedvision for agencies and other organizations at the regional, state and local levels to formpartnerships and ensure efficient allocation of conservation resources. The assessments identify a portfolio of sites for conservation action with a goal of protecting representativebiodiversity and ecologically significant populations. These assessments are the result ofrigorous analysis, incorporating expert review, and are the most comprehensive and currentefforts that support spatially explicit priority setting at an ecoregional scale. At the statewide scale, we are looking for patterns of habitat distribution that dominate large landscapes. This can be thought of as a view of the land from 50,000 feet above the Earth’s surface. This view is interpreted through the behaviors and natural histories of some of Washington’s more mobile vertebrate wildlife, using computer models and our best understanding of what influences these species in their movement choices and the ways in which landscape features contribute to their survival and well-being. At this scale, we have analyzed the landscape with two approaches: a functional focal species approach and a structural landscape integrity approach. The statewide analysis is a first-step toward identifying...
This theme shows the Key Watersheds that are located on BLM lands and adjacent Forest Service Lands, as identified during the Forest Ecosystem Management Assessment effort (Northwest Forest Plan - Record of Decision 1994). The initial mapping done in 1994 was a very generalized representation and was done prior to the development of the interagency standard 5th and 6th field watershed boundaries. The line work has been made coincident with the 5th and 6th field watershed lines where the Key Watershed Boundaries clearly intended to use a watershed as the boundary. District personnel have reviewed these edits to conform to the 5th and 6th field boundaries and have incorporated other edits to follow operationally identifiable...

Ecoregional assessment portfolios of priority conservation areas for all ecoregions intersecting Washington. This includes terrestrial, freshwater, marine, and integrated portfolios that were developed for each ecoregional assessment.
The World Database on Protected Areas is a foundation dataset for conservation decision making. It contains crucial information from national governments, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, international biodiversity convention secretariats and many others. It is used for ecological gap analysis, environmental impact analysis and is increasingly used for private sector decision-making.
The B.C. Conservation Data Centre (CDC) maps known locations of Red- and Blue-listed species and ecological communities. Detailed records are compiled for each 'Occurrence'. The CDC database is dynamic and is based on best-known information. The addition and upkeep of records is an ongoing process with edits taking place on a daily basis. The absence of Occurrences in your area of interest does not necessarily mean that there are no species or ecosystems at risk present; only that there are none currently recorded in our database. A detailed assessment of the property conducted during the appropriate season is the only way to confirm presence or absence of species or ecosystems at risk. Use the Conservation Data...
This assessment presents GIS data containing results of all freshwater assessment analyses conducted by The Nature Conservancy for Washington State. This data set includes values for biodiversity metrics (e.g. suitability, threat, number of species) across all HUC6 watersheds in Washington State, as well as identifies rivers, watersheds, and wetlands that provide the best opportunities for conservation of Washington's native freshwater species and ecological systems. Fore more information, visit waconservation.org .
The Protected Areas Database of the United States (PAD-US) is a GIS database hosted by the USGS Gap Analysis Program (GAP) that illustrates and describes public land ownership, management and conservation lands nationally, including voluntarily provided privately protected areas. Version 1.2 of this data set was released by GAP in April, 2011 and can be downloaded from the USGS PAD-US web site (data available in geodatabase and shape file formats). The web site includes an online map viewer for the data as well as information on PAD-US standards, core attribute schema and a summary of commonly requested statistics. GAP compiled the Protected Areas Database of the United States (PAD-US) version 1.1 with significant...

North Cascades Ecoregional Assessment: Freshwater Priority Conservation Areas by Relative Importance
Ecoregional assessments provide a regional scale, biodiversity-based context for implementing conservation efforts. The intent of the assessments is to create a share division for agencies and other organizations at the regional, state and local levels to form partnerships and ensure efficient allocation of conservation resources. The assessments identify a portfolio of sites for conservation action with a goal of protecting representative biodiversity and ecologically significant populations. These assessments are the result of rigorous analysis, incorporating expert review, and are the most comprehensive and current efforts that support spatially explicit priority setting at an ecoregional scale. Search capabilities and results include: All Vertebrates, Dragonflies, Damselflies, Tiger Beetles, Butterflies, non-marine Molluscs, Vascular Plants and Mosses. All ecological communities currently documented and ranked by the CDC. This list is regularly expanded as new classification and mapping information becomes available. Conservation status value: global and provincial, Red and Blue List, and COSEWIC. Legal designation under the Federal Species at Risk Act (SARA), Identified Wildlife and the Provincial Wildlife Act. Forest District, Regional District and Ministry of Environment Regions for all ecological communities, and Red- and Blue-listed animals and vascular plant species plus Municipality for ecological...
