This collection consists of approximately 2,000 paper copies (original logs and duplicated copies) of geophysical logs (gamma, resistivity, caliper, sonic, etc.) of wells in Maryland's 23 counties, Baltimore City, Delaware, Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. Approximately 1,000 wells have logs in digital format. MGS staff reduced approximately 1,000 logs from the original size to a scale of 1 inch = 50 feet. These logs are at the Tawes Building, B-3. Additionally, there is a six-page listing of geophysical logs located in other MGS files. While many duplicate logs in the collection, some lack identification of the curve(s), and others would need research to determine the identity of the well....

Continuous, intact vibracores, in 1-m or 5-m sections, collected between 1984-1997, on the Maryland continental shelf by MGS or the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACOE) for the purpose of assessing sediment suitable for beach nourishment. Half of each core, longitudinally, is archived. Since collection, all samples have been stored indoors, but at ambient outdoor temperature and humidity. Bottom Sediment Cores, Maryland Continental Shelf Core repository started out as a good project when funded, but, as funding became scarcer, upkeep of the respository suffered. MGS has already invested $30-40,000 in this collection and has added to it. It would be a shame to allow the collection to deteriorate to the point that...
