These datasets present offstream water use estimates from 2010 which are aggregated to the 8-digit (subbasin) and 12-digit (subwatershed) hydrologic unit level for the Delaware River Basin. The data support USGS Scientific Investigations Report 2015-5142.

These data have been collected by a collaborative and coordinated research network, SPARCnet (Salamander Population and Adaptation Research Collaboration network). We collected these data to examine patterns in seasonal and latitudinal variation in population density. This data can be used to estimate local salamander biomass, correcting for imperfect detection, and then compare these to estimates of biomass for other vertebrate species in North America that are known to have out-sized roles in ecosystem processes.

Continuous water temperature data were collected at multiple sites along the Middle Fork and mainstem Willamette Rivers between Jasper and Newberg, Oregon, to support effectiveness monitoring for a large-scale channel and floodplain restoration program (Willamette Focused Investment Partnership, WFIP). Shorebirds are among the most rapidly declining species in North America (Rosenberg et al. 2019), with many long-distance migrants experiencing the greatest declines (Environment Canada 2020). Nonetheless, not all shorebirds are declining and there may be differences among species and populations using different migratory routes. American pikas (Ochotona princeps) are small lagomorphs that live in mountainous talus areas of western North America. Studies on the histopathology of American pikas are limited. This report summarizes the clinical histories, and gross and histologic findings of 12 American pikas, including nine captive and three wild animals. Death was often attributed to stress (transport, handling, and anesthesia) with few to no premonitory clinical signs. Two cases died due to infection: one had bacterial pyogranulomatous dermatitis, cellulitis, and lymphadenitis with sepsis; the other case had fungal necrotizing colitis. These datasets provide early estimates of 2024 fractional cover for exotic annual grass (EAG) species and one native perennial grass species on a weekly basis from April to late June. Typically, the EAG estimates are publicly released within 7-13 days of the latest satellite observation used for that version. Each weekly release contains five fractional cover maps along with their corresponding confidence maps for: 1) a group of 16 species of EAGs, 2) cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum); 3) Field Brome (Bromus arvensis); 4) medusahead (Taeniatherum caput-medusae); and 5) Sandberg bluegrass (Poa secunda). Predators are a known detriment to beach nesting birds at Cape May National Wildlife Refuge. Although the refuge regularly contracts with USDA to provide 2 weeks of predator trapping, predators historically move onto the refuge throughout a breeding season and detrimentally affect the beach nesting birds when contract work has already been spent or USDA is unavailable to get out to specific sites. In recent years, this has resulted in low productivity. Funding is requested to implement more adaptive predation management efforts through either increased trapping duration, and/or to purchase trapping and control supplies for refuge staff, and to purchase supplies to trap and control ghost crabs.

This collection of files contains temperature data files (.ttd files) downloaded directly from Tiny Tag devices, as well exported temperature data as .csv files for each nest monitored with Tiny Tags by year. File names include Tiny Tag number, site, year, and nest ID..ttd files can be viewed using Tinytag Explorer. Note, however, that the times displayed by Tinytag Explorer are calculated when the data is displayed and depend on the daylight saving settings of the PC at that time. For example, if a .ttd file is opened before and after DST settings change, then all times displayed by Tinytag Explorer will go forward or back. The Yǻyaguak (Mariana Swiftlet; Aerodramus bartschi) is an endangered cave-roosting species native to Guam and southern Mariana Islands, Micronesia. On May 24-25, 2023, Guam was hit by the category-4 Typhoon Mawar, which brought wide-spread destruction to the island. Approximately 6 weeks prior to the typhoon in April 2023 we conducted surveys of the three known colonies of Yǻyaguak at Mahlac, Maemong, and Fachi caves. This April 2023 pre-Mawar survey provided a baseline population estimate prior to Typhoon Mawar’s landfall. Funding will be provided to Save the Bay, an organization based in Rhode Island that is developing cutting-edge runnelling techniques that are improving thousands of acres of marshes across the region. Save the Bay’s Restoration Director works with partners throughout the Northeast region, and regularly hosts partners in the field and via webinars to share tips and lessons learned on implementing these techniques. Funds will allow her to provide greater regional support in the form of training salt marsh practitioners and sharing evaluation results of runnelling effectiveness that will inform work throughout the Northeast.
