Images were collected using a remotely piloted unoccupied aerial system (UAS) over the bluffs of the eastern shore of Lake Michigan in St. Joseph rural residential area, Berrien County, MI. Images were collected in two separate surveys conducted on July 8, 2019, and July 13, 2021, using a DJI Phantom 3 and 4 PRO commercial UAS respectively operated by the University of Toledo. The images cover an extent between the intersection of Lakeshore Dr. with Lakeshore Road to the north, and South Lakeshore Dr. to the south. The purpose of the survey was to monitor active bluff erosion in the area. The images are presented here in zipped files grouped by type of collection, nadir and oblique. The images were collected in...

This release of digital geologic map data covers the Niobrara National Scenic River, a 76-mile stretch of river at the northern edge of the Nebraska Sand Hills. The mapped area includes the National Park Service unit of the Niobrara National Scenic River and the adjoining Middle Niobrara Preserve of The Nature Conservancy, and the Fort Niobrara Wildlife Refuge of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. These digital geologic map data focus on the surficial geologic framework, dominated by the late Quaternary geology, of the Niobrara River valley corridor. These data are the result of geologic mapping begun by the U.S. Geological Survey in 2011 and continuing for about a decade. Mapping is based on geomorphic and other...
This release includes aeroradiometric data collected via low-altitude helicopter flown over northeastern Washington State, centered over the town of Republic, Washington. The data were acquired between September 26, 2022 and August 21, 2023 by Precision Geosurveys, Inc. of Langley, British Columbia and processed by EDCON-PRJ, Inc. of Lakewood, Colorado, contracted by the U.S. Geological Survey and funded through the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (EarthMRI). The survey includes gridded data from target altitude of 80-100 meters above ground level, subject to aircraft climb and descent limitations. Primary transverse flight lines were flown in the east-west direction and spaced 200 meters apart. Tie lines were...

This publication provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution horizontal magnetic gradient and radiometric survey over an area of southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and western Kentucky. The survey was conducted in collaboration with the Missouri Geological Survey as part of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Mapping Resource Initiative (Earth MRI) effort (Day, 2019). Earth MRI is a cooperative effort between the USGS, the Association of American State Geologists, and other Federal, State, and private sector organizations to improve our knowledge of the geologic framework of the United States. Data for this survey were collected by Terraquest, Ltd. under contract with the USGS using a fixed-wing...
This digital map shows the geographic extent of rock stratigraphic units (formations) as compiled by Colton in 1976 under the Front Range Urban Corridor Geology Program. Colton used his own geologic mapping and previously published geologic maps to compile one map having a single classification of geologic units. The resulting published color paper map (USGS Map I-855-G, Colton, 1978) was intended for land-use planning and to depict the regional geology. In 1997-1999, another USGS project designed to address urban growth issues was undertaken. This project, the USGS Front Range Infrastructure Resources Project, undertook to digitize Colton's map at 1:100,000 scale, making it useable in Geographical Information Systems...

The airborne geophysical survey was funded by the USGS National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program. The survey covers a rectangular area 91.55 by 92.15 kilometers (km) over the transition between the Ouachita Mountains and Ozark Plateau physiographic provinces and includes 31,006 line-km of magnetic and radiometric data. Data were collected from a fixed-wing aircraft flown at a median terrain clearance of 170 meters (m) above topography along north-south flight lines spaced at 300-m intervals. Tie lines were flown in an east-west direction every 3,000 m. Data were collected by...

This digital data release contains geospatial data for the geologic map of the O’Neill 1 degree by 2 degree geologic map in Nebraska, originally published in 2008 by R.E. Diffendal and others. The original map consists of a 1:250,000 scale map plate with a “stack unit” structure showing multiple overlying units, as well as several roughly 1:750,000 scale maps in an accompanying pamphlet showing bedrock geology and structure contours. To capture as much of this content as possible in a geodatabase, three “layers” are included in this database: 1) Overlay polygons showing Quaternary loess deposits (Qes) where they overlay older Quaternary units; 2) a layer (consisting of line and polygon feature classes) showing Quaternary...
This data release provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over Virginia and North Carolina along and near the eastern U.S. 'Fall Zone', which represents the transitional area between Atlantic Coastal Plain sediments and Piedmont metamorphic and igneous rocks. The airborne data collection was funded by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (Earth MRI) and National Cooperative Geological Mapping Program (NCGMP). Goals include a gaining a better understanding of placer deposits containing critical mineral resources titanium, zirconium, and rare earth elements, assisting geologic mapping of the crystalline basement either exposed...

This digital dataset was created as part of a U.S. Geological Survey hydrologic resource assessment and development of an integrated numerical hydrologic model of the hydrologic system of the Upper Colorado River Basin, an extensive region covering approximately 412,000 square kilometers in five states: Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. As part of this larger study, the USGS developed this digital dataset of geologic data and a three-dimensional hydrogeologic framework model (3D HFM) that define the elevation, thickness, and extent of seven hydrogeologic units in the Upper Colorado River Basin. The hydrogeologic setting of the Colorado Plateau consists of thick Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic aquifers,...

This digital data release presents subsurface data from multiple geologic units that were part of a previous study of the regional subsurface structural configuration of the Powder River Basin in Wyoming and Montana. The original data within this geodatabase is sourced from an unpublished doctoral dissertation by Jessie Melick at Montana State University (Melick, 2013). Data contained in this release were generated from elevation grids developed by Jessie Melick using 28,000 wells and geophysical well logs penetrating Paleozoic to Mesozoic strata over a 70,000 square-kilometer area designated by the Department of Energy as a realistic locality for geologic carbon sequestration (Melick, 2013). Information included...

This dataset captures in digital form previously published maps showing the inferred extent and subsurface elevation of several Paleozoic consolidated rock units in the northern Midwest of the United States. Data released here were published as figures within a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Water Mission Area report documenting results from a study of the regional hydrogeology and ground-water quality of the Cambrian-Ordovician aquifer system in the northern Midwest. This study was part of the USGS national Regional Aquifer-System Analysis (RASA) Program. Sandstone and carbonate rocks of Cambrian and Ordovician age compose much of the sedimentary rocks overlying the Precambrian basement in the northern Midwest and...
This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides U-Pb zircon data and geochronology for Proterozoic rocks in the Needle Mountains of southwestern Colorado and for Proterozoic rocks sampled from drill cores from Wyoming, Montana, and Nebraska. Samples from the Needle Mountains were collected in order to constrain the polyphase tectonic evolution of the area. Drill core samples are part of a larger characterization of the age and geochemical character of basement terranes in the United States.
