Digital location of monoclines and structural uplifts of the Colorado Plateau, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah

The Colorado Plateau structural province features long monoclinal flexures between uplifts and basins that are the major lines of deformation within and marginal to the Plateau. These folds are named, well-known, and have been described as part of several previous tectonic syntheses of the Colorado Plateau (Kelley, 1955; Davis, 1978; 1999). However, no digital data have ever been created that locate these folds in digital map space. This dataset captures in digital form the results of previously published U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Water Mission Area studies related to water resource assessment of Cenozoic strata and unconsolidated deposits within the Mississippi Embayment and the Gulf Coastal Plain of the south-central United States. Digital hydrogeologic framework model of the Upper Colorado River Basin, western U.S.

This digital dataset was created as part of a U.S. Geological Survey hydrologic resource assessment and development of an integrated numerical hydrologic model of the hydrologic system of the Upper Colorado River Basin, an extensive region covering approximately 412,000 square kilometers in five states: Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. The Ouachita Mountains record the late Paleozoic Laurentia-Gondwana orogenic event along southern Paleo-North America during Pangea supercontinent formation. This data release contains a digital compilation of geomorphic-structural information from the Ouachita Mountains of southeastern Oklahoma and southwestern Arkansas as previously published by Arbenz (2008).
