Summary

Tree growth (annual tree ring measurements) and plant community composition data of tidal freshwater forested wetlands along longitudinal riverine positions (upper, lower, and stressed tidal river sites, and nearby upstream non-tidal forested floodplains) of the adjoining Pamunkey and Mattaponi Rivers, Virginia.

Purpose

The data were collected to examine the effects of watershed drivers (nutrients, discharge, relative dryness) vs. estuarine drivers (salinity, sea level rise) on the growth of trees and plant community composition in freshwater forested wetlands along a tidal gradient in the Mattaponi and Pamunkey rivers, Virginia.
