Purpose

This data release includes information used to support numerical simulations of variably-saturated flow focused on variability in soil-water retention properties for the U.S. Geological Survey Bay Area Landslide Type (BALT) Site #1 in the East Bay region of California, USA (see Thomas et al., 201x). The eight datasets are: (1) borehole and instrumentation logs recorded for BALT-1 from May 2009 through March 2017, (2) collocated soil-moisture and soil-suction measurements collected at BALT-1 from November 2010 through September 2016, (3) field-saturated hydraulic conductivity (infiltrometer) measurements collected at BALT-1 in May 2017, (4) field-saturated hydraulic conductivity (permeameter) measurements collected at BALT-1 in May 2017, (5), field-saturated hydraulic conductivity (permeameter) measurements collected throughout Alameda County in 2001, (6) positive pore-water pressure measurements telemetered from the BALT-1 site from January 2017 through February 2017, (7) rainfall measurements telemetered from the BALT-1 site from November 2016 through March 2017, and (8) positive pore-water pressure measurements telemetered from the BALT-1 site from January 2017 through February 2017.
